Quality of Life and Uniqueness
At Red Hen we embrace children into our big happy family. We enjoy a rich diversity of families to share our lovely location on David and Jane's farm where we all enjoy access to a huge range of developmental and learning experiences. We embrace philosophies that are conducive to positive childhood. We are also inspired by Pikler so our care for babies, toddlers and young children is relaxed and respectful to their individuality, nurturing autonomy and self-confidence.
Our Red Hen Team comprises exceptionally knowledgeable, experienced and empathetic staff who have a passion to go the ‘extra mile’ to make your child’s time a happy fulfilling experience.; indeed Ofsted recognised the enthusiasm of the highly skilled staff team and the support from the management team in their professional development. All staff are qualified ranging from level 3 upto level 6 and EYT. In addition all of our staff and Management team are first aid trained. We also have fully trained Forest School practitioners so all the children can gain maximum benefit from being outside in our many acres of nature areas.
It is our aim to make each family’s time at Red Hen an enjoyable fulfilling experience. An open partnership with parents is of high importance so all parents are encouraged to spend time with us, sharing their interests and thoughts in order to ensure the best outcomes for their children. We value every child's uniqueness, nurturing individuality and are proud of the skills that our children take with them when they leave for school. Our SEND policy ensures we implement extra support as required in order to fulfil a child's potential.
We now have access to a new granary extension adjacent to the nursery. This is enabling us to have more space for Kindergarten sessions as well as providing a venue for talks and a variety of parent events eg. tea & talks, cookery workshops, bumps & baby sessions. The room is also hired by outside professionals, eg. yoga, mindfulness. For more information please phone or email and ask to speak to Penny.
We are very conscious of our environmental footprint. We have planted over 1000 trees since we opened in 2004 in our nature areas which everyone at Red Hen are now enjoying. Learning and appreciating our biodiversity on the farm happens from a very early age and is life-long. We also have PV solar panels and we are mindful to reduce the use of plastics and unecessary waste.
